"Anyone else want to negotiate?"

Let’s be clear: Korben Dallas didn’t major in diplomacy. But when the stakes are high, and the situation's explosive (literally), he gets the job done — with calm tone, simple words, and total control.

This mission will train you to negotiate in English like a space-born badass: clear, confident, and cool under pressure.

🎯 MISSION OBJECTIVE

Train cadets to:

🔹 Use key negotiation vocabulary and expressions

🔹 Remain calm and persuasive in tense situations

🔹 Make offers, request alternatives, and find win-win outcomes

🔹 Know when to talk… and when to shoot (metaphorically speaking)

🧰 VOCABULARY DROP: LANGUAGE OF NEGOTIATION

  • Compromise - A middle ground between two sides - “Let’s find a compromise that works for both of us.”
  • Offer - A proposal made to start the deal - “I’d like to offer a 10% discount.”
  • Counter-offer - A return offer made after rejecting the first - “That’s too low — can I make a counter-offer?”
  • Deal / No deal - Agreement / Rejection - “It’s a fair price. Deal?”
  • Mutual benefit - A result that helps both sides - “This agreement should bring mutual benefit.”
  • Agree on terms - Decide and accept conditions - “We need to agree on the payment terms first.”
  • Firm but fair - Confident without being aggressive - “Stay firm but fair. Don’t lose your cool.”
  • Walk away - To leave if the offer isn’t good enough - “If the price doesn’t work, I’m ready to walk away.”
  • Leverage - A strong point that gives you an advantage - “You have leverage — use your experience to your advantage.”
  • Bottom line - Final acceptable condition or limit - “My bottom line is 500 credits. Take it or leave it.”

💬 KORBEN’S RULES OF NEGOTIATION

🔹 Rule 1: Fewer Words, More Power

You don’t need 50 phrases. You need the right one at the right time.

✔️ “This is my best offer.”

✔️ “What do you propose?”

✘ “Umm, well, maybe we could kinda…”

🔹 Rule 2: Stay Cool in the Pressure Zone

Negotiation is tense. That’s the point. You win by staying calm while others freak out.

✔️ “Let’s take a step back and reassess.”

✔️ “Can we look at this from both sides?”

🔹 Rule 3: Know When to Push

If you have leverage — use it. Korben didn’t ask for backup; he was the backup.

✔️ “You know I can deliver. What’s your final price?”

✔️ “We both want this to happen. Let’s find the middle.”

🔹 Rule 4: Clarify or Get Burned

If you’re not sure what’s been agreed — ask again.

✔️ “Just to confirm, delivery is included?”

✔️ “Are we agreed on 2,000 credits, payable on Friday?”

🛠 FIELD PHRASES FOR SPACE-LEVEL NEGOTIATORS

✔️ “Is there any flexibility in the price?”

✔️ “I’d like to propose an alternative.”

✔️ “I understand your position. Here’s mine.”

✔️ “Can we find a solution that works for both of us?”

✔️ “I’m not trying to win — I’m trying to make it fair.”

📌 FINAL BRIEFING

Korben Dallas didn’t speak like a lawyer. He spoke like someone who meant it.

In negotiation, confidence + clarity = control.

Whether you’re buying a hover-taxi, saving the galaxy, or asking for a raise — speak directly, stay calm, and never negotiate in fear.

☕️ And remember:

Sometimes, negotiation is about words. Sometimes… it’s about tone.

"Bzzzzzt — wrong answer!"
