As seen in similar cases, they have spent months waiting for amounts running into thousands of dollars, and whenever they ask about payments, they are met with silence or evasive responses. Since the situation keeps deteriorating, some subtitlers are considering taking legal action in order to finally get their dues. In a few cases, translators reported that leaving a negative feedback on industry-specific platforms such as ProZ or tri-trab.com resulted in having their invoices paid in exchange for deleting the offending posts. We commend the freelancers that have taken action so far. Considering the current situation, we highly discourage freelancers from working with ZOO and we encourage those that are owed money to voice their concerns

We also ask that ZOO Digital’s high-profile clients, such as Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios, Netflix, HBO, NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Paramount Pictures, and Sony Pictures Entertainment, reconsider working with the group and investigate the unethical practices in their value chain.
