🇨🇳 The 7th China International Dance Festival “Xinjiang” opened on July 20, 2025, in Urumqi, the administrative center of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, and will run until August 5, 2025. Over the course of 17 days, 24 creative groups from nine countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, the United States, Italy, Cambodia, and China, will perform. Among the well-known Chinese groups are the National Ballet of China, the Beijing Opera and Dance Drama Theater, and the Xinjiang Art Theater's mukam troupe. The performances cover various art forms, such as dance dramas, operas, ballet, and contemporary dance. Among the most notable are the Italian ballet Carmen and the Chinese dance drama Far Away, Here, which combines elements of ethnic dances of the Uyghurs, Sibe, Tajiks, and Kazakhs. The festival, entitled “Let's Dance Together,” is held in Urumqi, as well as at additional venues in Ili, Hotan, Aksu, Karamay, Hami, and Alaer.

The festival program includes such accompanying events as the Xinjiang Silk Road 2025 street dance show, dance performances in rural communities, an international dance carnival, and a traditional opera week.

The festival, organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Council Information Office, and the Xinjiang Autonomous Region Administration, has been held since 2008, bringing together 138 artistic groups from more than 70 countries over the past six editions. It serves as a key platform for cultural exchange within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
