I will note that Russians also sometimes need to get a card abroad and have a SIM card. And this is also a rather difficult procedure.

First, you need to translate your passport at any translation agency with a notary, the price of the service is 2500-3000 rubles.

Next, you need to register. The easiest way to get it is through a hotel. My friend put her hopes on Russian partners who allegedly tried to get her registration in their apartment. As a result, she waited for registration for more than 3 weeks, and never received it, having only an application for registration in hand. However, after I called the support service and asked to cancel the application for a refund, since I checked into the hotel, they started calling me from customer service asking me to leave a rating.

We got out of the situation by arriving at another hotel, which was able to register my foreigner with the registration application she had in hand. The next day, we were already given the registration in hand.

Then we contacted the bank to issue a bank card. We visited the main large banks in Russia: VTB, Alfa-Bank, Sberbank and left an application for a card at T-Bank. That day, the devices for obtaining biometrics were glitching at VTB on Dmitrovskoe Shosse and Alfa-Bank on Babushkinskaya, but Sberbank on Babushkinskaya did not let us down. The only thing is that only at Sberbank they told us that before submitting biometrics, we need to get a SNILS, that is, an insurance number. Here they made SNILS in 15-20 minutes and opened an account for my foreigner in Gosuslugi. Then we returned to Sberbank on Babushkinskaya and friendly girls did our biometrics in half an hour. It was noisy, and therefore the biometrics did not work. In the end, our efforts were not in vain.

Then we went to the Megafon branch in the Pushka shopping center on Babushkinskaya and a Megafon employee very quickly issued us a SIM card, having issued it through the just confirmed account in Gosuslugi.
