THE ROTE LEARNING DOWNFALL: HOW TRADITIONAL TEACHING HOLDS STUDENTS BACK

Traditional teaching is now considered old-fashioned. There are several reasons for that. First of all, rote learning method is often used in traditional teaching. The problem is that such way of learning does not suggest any creativity and neither encourages critical thinking. This way, children do not develop their knowledge base as well as they cannot make informed decisions and have no idea how to use interpersonal skills. Today's parents argue about children dumbing down. Moreover, assessment system gaps let students use plagiarism and deny creating their own ideas. We should also point out that curriculum is built due to elitism needs and that claims specific hierarchy among students. To conclude, we should seek modern teaching techniques to let children express their mind. I have not even mentioned artificial intelligence, which nowadays writes a major part of student's papers and tests. P.S.
