Since ancient times, women have been considered the weaker gender. Denial of rights and discrimination pursued women and that was normalized during time. That’s why nowadays many countries still put women into sexist stereotypes shifting all domestic issues on them. According to statistics, in Russia 74% of women are responsible for bringing up children. And this responsibility is apart from all the other domestic duties such as washing, ironing, cooking etc.
Most of prestigious and status positions are occupied by men and many people truly believe this is the way it should be. 51% of Russians oppose female leadership, although it has been scientifically proven that there is no difference between male and female thinking. So this Patriarchate system influences society and divides responsibilities and behavior patterns between women and men.
For the younger generation, the stereotype that the father is not necessarily involved in the upbringing of children is becoming less common. My peers, especially those who live independently, say that all domestic duties are shared in their couples. Women nowadays wish to make a career as well as men do, so the responsibility for material support is also shared. Speaking of bringing up children, this is absolutely no doubt that father has a significant part in child’s life. So putting father’s involvement away causes serious consequences for child’s psychological development. It forms unhealthy model of interaction in the family. The child will suffer from a lack of father’s attention, will adapt only mother’s behavior, and, most likely, will normalize Patriarchal tendencies. A healthy family environment may be achieved only through adequate interaction between all the family members. Two parents are responsible for bringing up their child and that’s the key to a happy family.
