What should you do if you're bored at work?

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. If boredom has crept in, it means this job is no longer yours - not in spirit, not in meaning, not in how it feels inside. Stop torturing yourself. Sure, you can sign up for dozens of workshops, take “beat the boredom” courses, or buy another beautifully designed goals journal for the upcoming quarter. But it won’t help. Because boredom isn’t a passing mood. It’s a diagnosis. Boredom isn’t laziness. It’s the absence of interest. And interest like love - cannot be forced. If it’s gone, it’s gone. It’s like being a die-hard hip-hop fan forced to sit through a Rachmaninoff concert. You can try to enjoy the hall, focus on the acoustics, close your eyes and meditate, but no matter what you do, Rachmaninoff won’t turn into Snoop Dogg. If you’re bored, that’s it. Game over. Time to start a new one. There’s a simple but honest way to figure out what you should actually be doing. Imagine a world with no money. None at all. Everything is free - food, homes, flights,

There’s a simple but honest way to figure out what you should actually be doing. Imagine a world with no money. None at all. Everything is free - food, homes, flights, yachts, designer clothes, even dental work in Switzerland. You’re financially secure for life. What would you do with your time?

Don’t rush the answer. Sometimes it doesn’t come right away. That’s okay. Take time to reflect, dig deep, listen carefully. But once you figure out what lights a fire inside you - you’ll know where to go next. What matters is not the result, but the process itself. That you live through Monday, not just wait for Friday. That you don’t tolerate your work - you’re consumed by it.

As the classic once said:
“The problem is not that we die too soon. The problem is that we start living too late.”
