Today I'm going to tell you about national colours of Mexico. In this project, we will look at the national color of the country, the colors on the flag, their meanings, as well as the perception of other colors in Mexican culture.
Mexico does not have an officially established national color, but many people associate the country with bright and saturated colors such as red, green and white — the colors of the Mexican flag.
These colors are also often used in traditional festivals, folk crafts and arts.
The flag of Mexico consists of three vertical stripes: green, white and red. In the center of the white stripe is the coat of arms of the country — an eagle holding a snake on a cactus.
What do they mean?
• Green: This color symbolizes hope and independence.
• White: White represents purity and unity.
• Red: The red color represents the blood shed for the independence of the country.
In Mexican culture, some colors have a specific meaning in the context of luck and misfortune:
• Yellow: It is often associated with joy and happiness.
• Black: Can be perceived as the color of mourning or unhappiness.
• Red: It is considered the color of protection from evil spirits and brings good luck.
In Mexico, other colors also have their own meanings:
• Blue: Symbolizes peace and tranquility.
• Purple: Associated with spirituality and respect.
• Orange: Represents warmth, friendliness and joy.
Colors in Mexico are not just visual elements; they reflect the history, hopes and dreams of the people, creating a unique palette of Mexican heritage.
