Today I want to tell you about charity in Russia.
Lots of people donate their money to different charities. Since, 2010 English company Charities Aid Foundation and American university Gallup publish the world index of charity. To rate the level of charity in different countries they ask people some questions. They aren't difficult. For example 'Did you help strangers last month?', 'Did you donate money to charities last month?' or 'Did you do any voluntary work last month?'. In 2022 Russia was on the 30 place in this index. 71% helped strangers, 42% sent donations and 24% did voluntary work.
Most often people donates money for kids (about 45%). On the second place donations for animals (about 26%). And on the third place donations for people who don't have enough money to live (about 20%).
People who are from 18 to 24 and from 35 to 44 years donates more actively. The less number of people who donate money are more than 60 years old. Women donate more money than men. But men donate a larger amount. Usually people donate money by internet but someone do it by cash.
Also, the are lots of people who do voluntary work.
According to Rosstat information in 2024 there more than 12 million volunteers in our country. They clean streets, help other people, plant some trees or flowers. If you want to help someone who need it, you can search online and find different fundraising events and voluntary organizations.
