Kruger covers almost nineteen thousand square kilometers and stretches for 350 km from north to south and 60 km from east to west.
Kruger National Park is distinguished by the fact that the climate here is transitional from tropical to subtropical. Hot and humid weather is typical for the summer, the temperature often rises above 40 degrees Celsius. The rainy season begins in September and ends in May. The dry winter period is the best time to visit Kruger National Park: at this time, the probability of contracting malaria, which has not yet been defeated on the African continent, is minimal.
The park is home to elephants, hippos, giraffes, rhinoceroses, lions, leopards, Nile crocodiles, and 17 species of antelope[5]. According to the park management, its territory is home to about 1,500 lions, 12,000 elephants, 2,500 buffalo, 1,000 leopards and 5,000 rhinoceroses (both white and black)[10].
