"Catch a cold" or "catch cold"

- Which is faster, hot or cold?
- Hot, because you can easily catch a cold ☺️

А вы знаете , в чем разница между

catch a cold и catch cold ?

Мы можем использовать оба выражения в зависимости от контекста☝️

🔹You'll catch a cold if you get wet in the rain.

🔹You'll catch cold if you get wet in the rain.

These expressions mean something different:

To catch a cold is to catch the disease. A cold is a disease which lasts a few days, and the symptoms are the following: a runny nose, sneezing, headache, mild malaise, and sometimes fever. It is often followed by a cough.

To catch cold is to stay out too long in cold weather and feel cold inside your body, as if you have icicles inside 🥶 This experience may cause you to catch a cold, but not necessarily 🙂 If you go out and catch cold, you need to take a hot bath or to have a cup of hot tea and keep very warm for several hours and, with luck, you won't catch a cold.

Ещё несколько примеров:

* "You will catch cold if you don't come inside the house immediately", says a Mom to her child.
