I am a traveler. There is a term "an individual traveler" in a touristic sphere. I am exactly such a traveler.
I am often confronted with the people's surprise about my habit of traveling alone:
- How?
- Are you scared?
- Are you not afraid that something happens?
- You know, it's more interesting in the company! (I have a question - to whom? The answer is "not for me").
Frankly speaking, anything can happen regardless of whether you are traveling with someone or alone. There is another issue - is it better when you are alone (and you are responsible only for yourself) or with someone else (and the fear for your companions is also mixed in)? That is the question!
Well, I've traveled both in a company and alone. I cannot say that I dislike traveling in a company. It depends on people with me. However, I prefer single traveling to the company. There are several reasons for this:
a) It's cheaper. Indeed, tickets, excursions, food, hotel, etc. are cheaper than if you travel with a family.
b) It's quieter. While traveling, you are responsible only for yourself. You can change your mind as often as you wish and you don't depend on expectations of others.
c) It's more interesting. Since you are traveling alone, willy-nilly, you need to mix up with the locals. So you can learn a lot of interesting things about the area and its inhabitants where you are at the moment, make acquaintance with people, which may develop into a friendship by correspondence in the future or something more.
d) It's more resourceful. For example, one day you can visit several different places (it depends on your desire and physical capabilities) or you can spend all your time in one place and get real pleasure contemplating nature, buildings, people, paintings, etc. and enrich morally and emotionally.
e) It's more joyful to return home. After such a trip, you come rested, rebooted and you turn into a new round of work and life and, of course, you come back to your loved ones!!!
As an any process, this also has two sides. One of them is good and unusual impressions and a lot of positive emotions. The other is some troubles which can happen to any people. So, you shouldn't forget about it and should observe basic security measures.
As for me, I prefer to travel alone because I need to be somewhere away from the usual scenery. Then I come back really refreshed and full of strength for new achievements!
