Journey to the Underground Wonders: The Large Azish Cave in Adygea

Big Azish Cave is located in the southern part of Russia, in Adygea, within the Caucasus Biosphere Reserve. It is situated at an altitude of about 1500 meters above sea level, in the Azishtau mountain range, in the valley of the White River.

Azish Cave is one of the largest karst cavities in Europe. Its length is about 690 meters, and its depth reaches 37 meters. The cave consists of several large halls and galleries connected by narrow passages. Inside the cave, you can see various forms of stalactites and stalagmites, as well as underground lakes and rivers.

Big Azish Cave was opened for visiting in 1987. Today, it is a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can explore it on their own or book a guided tour. Tours are held daily, except Monday.

The cave has a special microclimate: the temperature inside it remains at about +5 degrees Celsius all year round, and air humidity reaches 95-100%. Because of this, unique forms of life have been preserved in it, such as bats and some species of insects.

Visiting the Big Azish Cave allows not only to get acquainted with a unique natural attraction, but also to gain an understanding of the geological structure of the region, as well as the history of its development by humans.
