What does the word "impulsive" mean?

"Impulsive action does nothing to add to your strength."

I've come across this intresting sentence. Where and how can I use this phrase? (do nothing to do)

do nothing (to do smth) = никоим образом не => Импульсивное действие никоим образом не добавляет вам силы.
