1. Disorderly conduct - the crime of behaving in a noisy or violent way in a public place (нарушение общественного порядка)

Examples: Three detainees left for the night at the police station, he is charged with disorderly conduct. He was also arrested for disorderly conduct and fined $25.

2. Flophouse - a cheap place to stay for people who have no home (ночлежка, клоповник)

Examples: They found her body a few weeks ago in a flophouse in Kansas City.

3. APB(all-points bulletin)- a radio message sent to every officer of a police force, giving details of people who are suspected of a crime, of stolen vehicles, etc. (ориентировки)

Examples: We have an APB out on Dr. Emerson. They put out an APB, but the description they got was pretty vague.

4. Lighthouse - tower or other building that contains a strong light to warn and guide ships near the coast (маяк)

Examples: Lighthouse automation began as long ago as 1910, thanks to an invention of Gustaf Dalén.

5. Fissure - a long deep opening in something, especially in rock or in the earth (трещины, разломы)

Examples: Fissures like this one near the Dabbahu volcano already reach below sea level.

6. Meth-head - someone who is heavily addicted to drugs, or affiliated with meth production/sale (наркоман, наркодилер)

Examples: The guy in the woods is probably her meth-head boyfriend or something.

7. Pompous - showing that you think you are more important than other people, especially by using long and formal words (помпезный, напыщенный)

Examples: Julian is the most self-absorbed, pompous person I've ever met.

8. To bring/press/lay/prefer charges against somebody – (law) to accuse somebody formally of a crime so that there can be a trial in court (выдвигать обвинения)

Examples: Many victims of crime are reluctant to press charges against their attackers. The Government also confirmed that, should the victim wish to press charges, any medical professional treating the victim is authorized to fill in form 8.

9. Borderline personality - a personality disorder in which somebody finds it difficult to control their emotions or form stable relationships with other people and often acts impulsively without thinking about the consequences (пограничное расстройство личности)

Examples: Borderline personality disorder is considered one of the most severe and troubling personality disorders.
