1. Girder - a long strong iron or steel bar used for building bridges and the framework of large buildings (балка)

Examples: The unfinished building with its blue girders was being used as a huge climbing frame.

2. Compulsion – strong pressure that makes somebody do something that they do not want to do (принуждение)

Examples: compulsion (to do something) You are under no compulsion to pay immediately.

compulsion (on somebody) to do something There are no compulsions on students to attend classes.

3. Attention span - the length of time for which somebody is able to concentrate on something (концентрация внимания)

Examples: He's got the attention span of a 5-year-old.

4. Precedent - an official action or decision that has happened in the past and that is seen as an example or a rule to be followed in a similar situation later (прецедент)

Examples: It would set a very important Legal Precedent for the entire region.

5. Luncheon - a formal lunch or a formal word for lunch (прием пищи).

Examples: Dave insisted we attend this charity luncheon.

6. Blurt out – to say something without thinking (выпалить, ляпнуть)

Examples: Or perhaps there's something else you'd like to blurt out first.

Some people may blurt out words they don't intend to say.

7. Defunct - no longer existing, operating or being used (исчезнувший)

Examples: Needless to say, that triple alliance is defunct.

These machines are now considered defunct.

8. Jug - a container with a handle and a lip (кувшин); (offensive, slang) - an offensive word for a woman’s breasts

Examples: The objects found in the grave include a miniature jug, a piece of a clay pot, items of clothing and coins.

9. Dough - a mixture of flour, water, etc. that is made into bread and pastry (тесто)

Examples: Knead the dough with both hands until it becomes elastic. Leave the dough to rise.

10. Groin - the part of the body where the legs join the main part of the body, including the area around the genitals (пах)

Examples: He's been off all season with a groin injury.
