Is it possible to create something completely new in a city which seems to have everything? Can Moscow give us the opportunity to dream, to push the envelope?

We do believe that Moscow transport can become a creative platform!

Capital`s public transport

One of the most interesting urban systems in Moscow is public transport. Modern Moscow has an extensive network of bus and electric bus routes, trolleybuses and trams, it is proud of its metro, trains, electric trains, air transport, highways, as well as bicycle paths, taxi and car-sharing services. Interestingly, last summer, for the first time in 17 years, a route along the Moscow River was launched, which operates all year round and is available to all passengers.

Last year Moscow public transport helped more than 11 million passengers daily, and according to Muscovites and guests of the capital “The Top Three” list included the Moscow subway, busses and taxis. And these statistics gave us food for thoughts!

Bus as an educational platform

How do most of trips by bus go? A familiar episode can be described this way: a passenger enters the vehicle, pays for the ticket (if he is not a fare dodger), takes a comfortable seat and start surfing the Internet, listening to music, or, which happens less often, reading a book or just looking out the window, being bored to death.

Why not change this situation? Why not turn a familiar electric bus into an educational platform that would allow any passenger to learn something new about the history and architecture of the area, as well as the sights that accompany him along the way?

Being enthusiastic, we suggest creating something completely new and daring - an audio guide for buses and electric buses!

Audio guide. What? Where? How?

To create a pilot project we chose a part of the existing route No. 239 - from the Park Pobedy metro station to the Kiyevskaya metro station. Our choice is based on the fact that this electric bus following this route passes by important historical monuments, which are supposed to be interesting to any generation, and therefore should not remain just points on the navigator’s map. So, our audio guide will tell you about the Victory Park memorial complex, the Triumphal Arch, the Bagration Monument, and the Kutuzovskaya metro station. You can clink on the links and listen to the abstacts we have prepared!

What is the best way to integrate an audio guide into the life of a bus or electric bus?

We suggest two options.

Thus, the audio guide could be listened to by scanning a QR-code, which could be placed on the window of the vehicle. The main advantage of this option, in our opinion, is the ability to control the speed and volume of the audio recording. In fact, these indicators are individual for each passenger.

The second option is to play the recording inside the bus or electric bus during the journey, which will save the city’s budget due to the absence of the need to create a website and maintain it. Also, it will certainly create the atmosphere of a real excursion.

We wonder which option Muscovites and guests of the capital would prefer?
