ОРГМОМЕНТ. Teacher 1: Good morning boys and girls, good morning dear guests!
Teacher 2: Welcome to our musical party!
Teacher 1: Today we’ll talk about the famous rock-group “The Beatles”
Teacher 2: You’ll come to know some facts from the history of the group, we’ll sing some of their songs.
Teacher 1: After the presentation of the group you’ll be given the “The Beatles-quiz”, so be ready to find the correct answers to each point.
Teacher 2: Well, let’s start our party!
ВСТУПЛЕНИЕ. Boy 1: The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. With John Lennon on rhythm guitar, Paul McCartney on bass guitar, George Harrison on lead guitar and Ringo Starr on drums, they became widely regarded as the greatest and most influential act of the rock era.
The Beatles are the best-selling music act of all time, with estimated sales of 600 million units worldwide.
НАЧАЛО КАРЬЕРЫ. Boy 2: The Beatles story began in July 1957 when John Lennon met Paul McCartney for the first time. The two performers began composing songs together.
Boy 3: In late 1956/early 1957, John Winston Lennon formed an amateur skiffle group with several friends from Quarry Bank School. They briefly called themselves the Blackjacks, before changing their name to the Quarrymen after discovering that another respected local group was already using the name. James Paul McCartney joined the group as a rhythm guitarist shortly after he and John met on later that year in July.
Boy 4: On February 1958, Paul invited his best friend George Harrison to watch the band. George auditioned for John, impressing him with his playing, but John and his band mates thought George was too young to join. After a month of persistence, they enlisted George permanently as lead guitarist. By January 1959, John's Quarry Bank friends had left the group, and he began his studies at the Liverpool College of Art.
Boy 1: They used the name through May, when they became the "Silver Beetles", before undertaking a brief tour of Scotland as the backing group for pop singer and fellow Liverpudlian Johnny Gentle. By early July, they changed their name to the Silver Beetles and by the middle of August to the Beatles. Later they called themselves the Silver Beatles, and, eventually, simply The Beatles.
ЭРА БИТЛОМАНИИ. Boy2: Upon their return to England, a record shop manager named Brian Epstein approached the band about becoming their manager. Within a year of signing Epstein on as manager, the Beatles gained a recording contract from EMI Records producer George Martin. Drummer Pete Best left the group and a drummer named Richard Starkey, better known as Ringo Starr, joined. Boy 4: The Beatles' debut album, "Please Please Me," released in Britain on January 12, 1963, and was an immediate hit. Famously recorded in one thirteen-hour session, the album remained number one on the charts for six months. The United States remained uninterested until, one month before the Beatles' arrival, EMI's U.S. company, Capitol Records, launched an unprecedented fifty thousand dollar promotional campaign.
Boy 1: On October 13, 1963, a concert was held at the London Palladium, from where the performance was broadcast nationwide, attracting 15 million viewers.
Boy 3: The publicity and the Beatles' American tour-opening performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, the most popular entertainment show on television at the time, paid off handsomely. They were given the nicknames "The Fab Four" and "The Mop Tops" (because of their hair styles).
БИТЛЗ – МЕГАГРУППА. Boy 1: The Beatles' 1965 and 1966 albums Rubber Soul and Revolver marked a turning point in the band's recording history. Songs such as "Tomorrow Never Knows," "Eleanor Rigby," and the lyrical "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" made use of sophisticated recording techniques. This was the beginning of the end for the group's touring, since live performances of such songs were technically impossible at the time.
Boy 3: Freed from the burden of touring, the Beatles embraced an increasingly experimental approach as they recorded Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, beginning in late November 1966. According to engineer Geoff Emerick, the album's recording took over 700 hours. Parts of "A Day in the Life" featured a 40-piece orchestra. The sessions initially yielded the non-album double A-side single "Strawberry Fields Forever"/"Penny Lane" in February 1967; the Sgt. Pepper LP followed with a rush-release in May.

ПЕСНЯ “Hey Jude” Boy 4: Hey Jude is one of the most popular and positive Beatles songs: it was written by Paul McCartney to cheer up after the divorce of Julian's parents, John Lennon's 5-year-old son and his first wife Cynthia. But instead of "Hey, Jewel," he decided to sing "Hey, Jude," because he thought it sounded better that way.
Boy 1: On August 1, 1968, 36 orchestra musicians were invited to the Abbey Road studio to record their instrument parts.
Teacher 2: Let’s sing the song “Hey Jude" (The students are singing the song “Hey Jude" altogether)

БИТЛЗ – ЛУЧШАЯ ГРУППА1964 ГОДА. Boy1: During the week of April 4, 1964, as many as twelve of The Beatles' songs were in the top 100 of the Billboard Hot singles, including the band's compositions occupied the top five lines.
БИТЛЗ ОТКАЗЫВАЕТСЯ ОТ ГАСТРОЛЕЙ. Boy 2: The unpleasant touring experience of 1966 also overlapped with the Beatles' fatigue: first, the story in the Philippines, where the musicians refused to take part in ceremonies with the country's political leadership, which caused a mortal offense to the local authorities - Brian Epstein had to pay bribes to get the band off the islands altogether.
Boy 3: The conditions in which their concerts took place absolutely did not allow them to reproduce the intricate arrangements of new songs live. On the last tour, The Beatles did not play any songs from the album "Revolver", although it was released a week before the start of the tour.
ПЕСНЯ '’MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER’'. Boy 1: Paul, a Catholic, was inspired to write "Maxwell's Silver Hammer’ by a Vatican ritual in which a cardinal hits the late Pope on the forehead five times with a silver hammer to make sure he is dead.
Teacher 1: Let’s sing the song “MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER” (The students are singing the song “MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER” altogether).

САМАЯ ПОПУЛЯРНАЯ ГРУППА И ПЕСНЯ “SOMETHING”. Boy 4: According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Beatles have sold 178 million records in the United States. That's more than any other artist in the history of U.S. music.
Boy 3: October 26, 1965 - The BEATLES were awarded the highest awards, the Order of the British Empire, at Buckingham Palace.
Boy 1: Frank Sinatra has often publicly expressed his admiration for the band, and once said that "Something" is the greatest love song that has ever been written.
Teacher 2: Let’s sing the song “SOMETHING”! (The students are singing the song “SOMETHING” altogether)

ГРУППА ПРЕКРАЩАЕТ СОВМЕСТНЫЕ ВЫСТУПЛЕНИЯ. Boy1: Paul filed suit for the dissolution of the Beatles' contractual partnership on 31 December 1970.
Boy 3: One of the worst conflicts involving Yoko came after Yoko Ono stole Harrison's digestive-stimulating chocolate while the band was recording at Abbey Road Studios. Boy 4: With hindsight, the breakup seemed inevitable in view of their serious business disagreements and the growth of their individual interests.
Boy 2: When Paul McCartney was asked why the band broke up, he claimed that the reason was "personal differences, business differences, musical differences, but most of all, he enjoys spending time with his family much more.
“БИТЛЗ” в ЗАЛЕ СЛАВЫ РОК-Н-РОЛЛА. Boy3: The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. All four of its members were also inducted into the Hall of Fame individually from 1994 to 2015.
Boy 4: As of 2016, the Beatles still hold the record for the most hits (20) that have reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Elvis Presley and Mariah Carey share second place with 18 songs each. The Beatles also hold the record for the number of albums that have reached the top of the US and UK charts.
СПАСИБО ЗА ПЕСНИ, БИТЛЗ! Teacher 2: World Beatles Day is celebrated on June 25. On this day in 1967, the Liverpool four performed on Our World withthe song "All You Need Is Love", and this hitwas heardby 350 million people worldwide.
