Osiris-Rex: Nasa reveals first look at 'beautiful' asteroid sample

Nasa fulfilled an iconic mission by delivering an “abundance of sample” from asteroid Bennu to the Earth. The rocky samples were scrutted and tested by eminent scientists using ahead of the curve technologies incorporating chemical element analysis and infrared spectroscopy X-ray diffraction. Scientists deduced that the samples were rich in carbon and water-laden minerals and it was a bright discovery because there is a theory that carbon- rich (organic) and water-rich asteroids similar to Bennu may had been involved in delivering key components to the Earth system 4,5 billion years ago. It is potentially how we got the water and some of the elements that were necessary to kick-start life. Scientists also unveiled the water appearance on the Earth and established a causality between water content held in asteroids clay minerals and life launch.

I consider this breakthrough to be crucial for our environment because nowadays some African and Asian countries, covered by the Sahara Desert, are suffering from drought. The Sahara desert covers most of their surface and due to the lack of water humans there are not able to grow crops which leads to hunger. The global warming increases the process of the desert growth and in the offing a significant part of the earth is about to have a limited access to the fresh water. It is bound to be the downfall of such countries as Morocco, Uganda, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and even China. Envisaging the environmental disaster, scientists put the asteroid’s samples under scrutiny and they do believe that this research will shed light on the water shortage problems and there is certain to be a breakthrough in scientific attempts to save the Earth.

The reason that the Earth is a habitable world is because clay minerals, like the one’s from asteroid Bennu, landed on the Earth several billion years ago and this is how we got oceans, lakes, rivers and rain. Putting this fact into perspective, it is certain to save the Earth from global drought by bringing more samples with clay minerals from asteroid Benny, examining them using ahead of the curve technology and deducing how this striking discovery can be used.
