Hello, everyone! Today I want to tell you about a team sport in Argentina which is called “Pato”.
“Pato” or the game of duck, invented by the Argentines - is one of the strangest sports in the world. But it’s a popular team sport in Argentina that is also played by Argentines. In my opinion, they really like this sport because it’s very interesting for them.
This team sport appeared in 17th century and in 1953 the President of Argentina made Pato the national game of Argentina. In the past, a live duck was used instead of a ball.
One team always has 8 horsemans.
The game consists of two teams of four riders each throwing a leather ball. And the goal of this game is to throw the ball into gates of your competitors. Nets are used for gates. Pato also supposes the presence of a referee on the field to award a penalty.
By the way, riders change their horses about 2 times of the game because they always jumps on the high speed.
For the game players wears T-shirts and white trousers. And black boots too.
This team sport isn’t similar to any other sports, but the game combines elements of polo and basketball.
Pato competitions take monthly.
I guess this isn’t an easy team sport because it takes about 2 hours for the one game.
