Still there are some blooming lilac bushes. Hot under the sun, cold in a shade, bright at night. Numerous straits and channels of the full-water Neva, islands and bridges, parks and palaces, temples and fountains. Not pretending to give an overview of this wonderful city or even express the power of its imperial character, here I post glimpses of impressions from a short trip to Russian Nothern Capital and its vicinities.
Peterhof
The summer residence of the Russian imperior. For three centuries without any pumps the park fountains raise up to the sky amid golden statues and fall jumping over cascades down to the channel which flows right into the sea.

The water comes from the plateau of Oranienbaum located higher above the sea level.

This column marks the end of the world. There's nothing beyond it.
