why is the grass green?

Grass appears green because of the presence of a pigment called chlorophyll, which is responsible for photosynthesis in plants. Chlorophyll absorbs blue and red light, but reflects green light, which gives grass its characteristic color. The reason that plants evolved to use chlorophyll for photosynthesis is that green light is abundant in sunlight, and plants have adapted to use this light to efficiently capture energy from the sun.
