The cult movie "Kill Bill" turned 20 years

This 2023 year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the legendary and fabulous film directed by Quentin Tarantino. The story of the film began almost 10 years before the start of work on the film – on the set of "Pulp Fiction" in 1993, where he met Uma Thurman. Then the director already had a draft script for "Kill Bill", which he shared with the young actress. It is worth noting that a strong friendship immediately began between Tarantino and Thurman, which arouses strong public interest to this day.
On Uma's 30th birthday, Quentin called the actress and confessed: "I wanted to give you a script. But, I'm sorry, I didn't have time to finish. So the gift is mine. I'll send it to you in a couple of weeks." The script was ready by the appointed date, but filming had to be postponed due to Thurman's pregnancy.

One of the main conditions of the director on the set was the study of kung fu by each actor, mastering the art of sword fighting and maintaining good physical shape. Quentin also forced most of the cast to learn Japanese for the plausibility of what was happening on the screen.

Interestingly, for Gogo Yubari, whose role was played by Chiaka Kuriyama, a new weapon was invented – a deadly ball on a long chain. It took Chiaki almost three months to learn how to control it. Once the actress almost killed Tarantino with her weapon – during the filming of one of the combat scenes, the actress spun the ball over her head and did not calculate the length of the chain, after which the ball hit the head of the director standing next to her. Quentin survived only because Kuriyama used a lightweight version of the ball that day. There were two of them in total: combat – for the collapse of furniture and walls and lightweight – for scenes involving Thurman. As a result, Quentin got off with a bruise.

Also note that more than 2 tons of fake blood were used during the filming. "More blood! I demand more blood!" the director shouted on the set throughout the filming process.

"Kill Bill" has become a cult dilogy in world cinema, consolidating Quentin Tarantino in the status of one of the most extraordinary, bright and original directors.
