My ideal gap year

At the moment, the end of school seems to me the end of everything, but of course it shouldn't always be like this. The time is whizzing and closer to graduation, I will need to decide which direction I would like to connect my life with. This is not an easy choice that takes time, and this time can be obtained in the gap year.

It sounds like a good idea, but also it's a bit scary. I'm sure my family will agree with me and will not consider the gap year for the distraction from getting a higher education, but what should I do?

My family will worry if I don't do at least something useful all year long, so I think that of the options offered, paid work is the most suitable for me. With the aid of it I will not fail, I will get valuable experience, my first money and my parents will not worry about me.

I'm not really sure about the job I would prefer to do yet but my elder brother has worked as a barista and he has recommended me to try it too. I think this is a good variant for the gap year. Maybe in the future I will want to open my own coffee shop and these skills will be useful to me. Anyway, it sounds quite romantic and it's suitable for me.

If we also talk about the ideal gap year, then working as a barista abroad is something I would really like. I would like to work somewhere in Canada, make some friends, try out something new and practice my English. It would be much more difficult from the financial side, but it could also be taken in account as practice while entering the linguistic faculty at the university.

And there are always those who can help with entering the gap year.

For example, here's what they write on one of the official sites «Gap year Canada»:

«Whether you are taking a break from studies, finished studying and not quite ready for the real world, or escaping the day to day grind of city life to take advantage of a mountain lifestyle for a season; we can help you make it happen.

Through our strategic partnerships, we are pleased to facilitate the ultimate season experience pulling together the work, travel and accommodation details to ensure your season is a success.»

This agency helps to get a visa, arrange housing and get a job for a while. Unfortunately, this only works if you are from a country that has a special agreement with Canada, but I'm not upset. Almost.

Even though this trip is more suitable for those who would prefer to travel, it's still interesting for me too.

Here are some photos that the participants of that gap year took:

Here is another site that helps with getting visa and this time also with the carrer growth — «TheInternGroup». There is even a video on its official website:

At the moment, going to Canada for gap year is very difficult and almost impossible, but I will definitely try. Experience, new acquaintances, the opportunity to travel and learn foreign mentality is what I want.
