Once upon a time, there was a girl named Lily who lived in a small town. Every day, she would sit by the window, gazing out at the world outside and dreaming of adventure and excitement.
Lily had a secret, though. She was in love with a boy named Jack, who lived just down the street. Jack was kind and funny, and every time he passed by her window, her heart would skip a beat. She longed for him to notice her and to come knocking at her door, but he never did.
So every day, Lily would sit and wait by the window, hoping that Jack would appear. She would watch as the world outside changed, from the bright colors of spring to the golden hues of autumn, but Jack never came.
As the years went by, Lily grew older, but her love for Jack never faded. She remained faithful to him, watching and waiting by the window, even as her family and friends urged her to move on and find someone else.
One day, Lily fell ill and was unable to leave her bed. She lay there, weak and frail, with only her memories and dreams to keep her company. But still, she would sit by the window, hoping that Jack would come and see her.
And then, one day, as she sat by the window, she saw Jack walking towards her house. He had aged, just like her, and had a family of his own. But he came to her, and he sat by her bedside, and they talked for hours, sharing stories and laughter and tears.
As the sun began to set, Jack stood up to leave, and Lily's heart ached with sadness. She had waited for him for so long, and now, just as he had come back to her, he was leaving again.
But as Jack reached the door, he turned back and looked at Lily with tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry it took me so long to find you," he said. "But I'm here now, and I'll never leave you again."
And with those words, Lily's heart filled with joy and love. She had waited for him at the window for so long, and now, finally, he was hers to keep forever.
