Earthquake in Turkey

On February 6, 2023, Turkey experienced one of the most destructive earthquakes in its history. The epicenter was located near the city of Gaziantep, in the southeast of the country, near the border with Syria.  This earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.8 Turkey is located at the junction of several tectonic plates, making it vulnerable to seismic activity.  The earthquake resulted in catastrophic consequences. At the time, the death toll was estimated at over 50,000, with tens of thousands injured. Many buildings, including homes, schools, and hospitals, were destroyed or severely damaged.  Many people were left homeless as a result, and humanitarian organizations began to provide assistance to the victims.
