so when I was a new convert I had a guy play a trick on me - когда я был новообращённым, был парень, который пошутил надо мной
he said: "have you read the book of Hezekiah?" - он сказал: "ты читал книгу Езекия?"
I said: "yeah, yeah I was reading that" - Я сказал: "да, да я читал её"
he said: "it's funny he said it's not a book in the Bible" - он сказал: "это забавно, сказал он, нет такой книги в Библии"
The Old Testament was written over a period of approximately 3 600 years - Ветхий Завет был написан в течении примерно 3 600 лет
and there's 32 different writers - и есть 32 разных писателя
that God used - которых Бог использовал
there's many writers but there's really only one author - есть много писателей, но есть только один автор
now we got all this modern technology and stuff – теперь у нас есть все эти современные технологии и всё такое
now things have changed a little bit – теперь вещи поменялись немного

and you got the president of a corporation – и у вас есть президент корпорации

this all didn't “just happen” you know – это всё не “просто произошло”, понимаете ли вы
and I love the creation – и я люблю факт создания Земли

the earth is a beautiful creation – земля это прекрасное создание
the first written covenant of course God gave Moses the ten commandments - но первым письменным заветом, конечно же, Бог дал Моисею десять заповедей
but not only to give him the ten commandments – но это не только чтобы дать ему десять заповедей
He gave him the first five books of the law – Он дал ему первые пять книг закона

God gave Moses the account of the creation – Господь даёт Моисею историю создания
you know the Bible is not a science book – вы знаете, Библия это не научная книга
The Bible's not a medical, journal – Библия не медицинская книга, журнал
but it gives us an account of creation – но она даёт нам историю создания
God used his word to not just give people spiritual commandments – Господь использовал своё слово не просто чтобы дать людям духовные заповеди

and it`s important to understand that they are not using the print presses - и важно понимать, что они не используют печатные станки

now I'm not against all the new modern translations of the Bible – так вот, я не против всех этих новых переводов Библии
but I'm telling you the jews were meticulous about the fact that this is God's word, this is God's law – но я говорю вам, евреи были очень тщательными насчёт того факта, что это слово Божье, это Божий закон
every seven years there was a special event – каждые семь лет там происходило особое событие
and they would gather all the children of Israel together – и они собирали всех детей Израилевых вместе

the scribes preserve the law of God for future generations – переписчики сохраняют закон Божий для будущих поколений

in 1440-s hardly anybody had a Bible - В 1440-ых едва ли кто-либо имел Библию
they would chain the Bibles to the pulpit in the catholic cathedrals - они прикрепляли Библии цепями к кафедрам в католических соборах
and people like me and you had very miniscule chance that we would ever own a Bible - и у таких людей, как мы с вами было очень мало шансов, что у нас когда-либо будет своя Библия
they were very rare – они были очень редки
until they invented the printer press – пока они не изобрели печатный станок
the printing press was invented in Germany – печатный станок был изобретён в Германии
it's no accident the great reformation started in Germany – это не случайность, что великая реформация началась в Германии
because you know what started the great reformation? – потому что вы знаете что запустило великую реформацию?
this book right here – эта книга вот здесь
when people got the Bible in their own hands – когда люди получили Библию в их собственные руки
and started reading it – и начали читать её
it started a spiritual revolution – это запустило духовную революцию
so I tell people okay if you don't have a Bible – поэтому я говорю людям, хорошо, если у вас нет Библии
you can buy one at the dollar store – вы можете купить одну в dollar store
for one dollar – за один доллар

that doesn't make it any less truthful or any less valuable – это не делает её менее истинной или менее ценной
