Loud music or a fully-blown TV are not acceptable, even in the daytime. If neighbors complain, it is better to respond with an apologetic note rather than confront them directly. Persistent noise issues may involve the police.
7. Politeness
Britons are equally polite to everyone, from store clerks to royalty. The language is rich with expressions of gratitude, apologies, and other courtesies.
8. Complaining
Discussing personal problems or grievances with strangers is considered rude. Emotional complaints are reserved for close friends and family.
9. Respect for Property
Parks and other public spaces may be privately owned. It's important not to litter, burn fires, pick flowers, or let dogs off-leash without permission.
10. Handshakes
Firm handshakes are given to both men and women, acquaintances and friends alike. Use formal titles like "Mr." or "Mrs." when addressing people you don't know well.
