What is basalt?
Basalt is a common volcanic rock, belonging to basic igneous rock, mainly composed of minerals such as pyroxene, plagioclase and olivine. Basalt is formed by the rapid cooling and solidification of basic magma deep in the earth after eruption. It is mainly distributed in volcanic eruption areas, seabeds and plate boundaries. Basalt is generally black, dark gray or dark green. Common pore-like or columnar joint structures, dense and hard texture. It has the characteristics of high hardness and good wear resistance, and is widely used in construction, industry and scientific research.
Uses of basalt
Basalt is one of the more commonly used raw materials for sand making. After crushing, the basalt sand and gravel aggregate has the advantages of strong wear resistance, low water absorption, high compressive strength, low crushing value, good asphalt adhesion, etc. It is increasingly selected as a high-quality sand and gravel material for high-rise buildings, high-grade asphalt pavement, steel bridge deck paving, railway ballast and other engineering projects, and has a wide market.

Jaw crusher for coarse crushing
The basalt excavated as raw material has a large particle size and needs to be coarsely crushed first to facilitate the next crushing process, so a basalt jaw crusher is needed. This equipment is specially designed for crushing large stones. The feed port adopts a deep V-shaped design, which can be directly crushed by large stones. The dynamic and static jaw plates are engaged with each other to make the stones rub and squeeze each other to crush the stones, which reduces the wear of the machine, allows the stones to be fully crushed, and reduces the needle-like shape of the discharged stones. In addition, the wedge is quick to adjust the discharge, which is more convenient, the discharge size is easy to control, and the particle shape of the finished material is more uniform.

The finished basalt sand after processing has uniform particle size and good particle shape. Basalt sand production line process flow
1. The large basalt materials are fed evenly by the vibrating feeder through the silo and transported to the jaw crusher for coarse crushing;
2. The coarsely crushed basalt materials are transported to the cone crusher for medium and fine crushing via the belt conveyor;
3. After medium and fine crushing, the basalt materials are screened by the circular vibrating screen. The materials larger than or equal to 45mm are returned to the cone crusher for further crushing. The basalt materials smaller than 45mm are sent to the impact sand making machine for further sand making and shaping;
4. The materials processed by the sand making machine are screened by the circular vibrating screen. The materials larger than 5mm are returned to the sand making machine for further sand making and shaping. The basalt materials smaller than or equal to 5mm are sent to the finished product silo;
5. If clean basalt machine-made sand is required, a wheel bucket sand washer and a fine sand recovery integrated machine can be configured for cleaning and dehydration.
