Return to default settings on iPhoneYou can return to default settings without deleting your content.If you want to keep your settings, back up your iPhone data before returning to the default settings. For example, if a problem occurs that cannot be resolved after resetting the default settings, you can restore the previous settings from a backup.
Go to Settings
> General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.
Do one of the options.
WARNING. If you select the "Erase content and settings" option, all your content will be deleted. See Erase iPhone .
Reset all settings. All settings (including network settings, keyboard dictionary, location and privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards) will be deleted or reset to default settings. Data and media files are not deleted.
Reset network settings. All network settings are deleted. In addition, the device name that was assigned in Settings > General > About this device will be removed and "iPhone" will appear instead. And all certificates that were manually marked as trusted (for example, for websites) will become untrusted again.
Cellular data roaming may also turn off. (See View or change cellular data settings on iPhone ).
Resetting network settings removes the list of networks in use and VPN settings not set through a configuration profile or mobile device management (MDM). Wi-Fi turns off and then back on, disconnecting you from all networks you were connected to. Wi‑Fi and Ask to Connect remain enabled.
To remove VPN settings set using a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, then select a profile and tap Delete Profile. This also removes other settings and accounts associated with the profile. See Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone .
To remove network settings set using Mobile Device Management (MDM), go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, then select a management and tap Remove Management. This also removes other settings and certificates associated with this MDM management. See the "Mobile device management (MDM)" section of the iOS Deployment Reference .
Reset keyboard dictionary. Adding words to the keyboard dictionary is done by rejecting words suggested to you on iPhone as you type. Resetting the keyboard dictionary erases only the words you enter.
Reset Home settings. Returns built-in apps to their default location on the Home screen.
Reset geo settings. Reset geolocation and privacy settings to default.
Reset iPhone to factory settings with iTunesYou can factory reset your iPhone this way even without a passcode, but only if you've ever synced your device with iTunes before.
Update iTunes to the latest version.
Open iTunes on your PC and connect your iPhone to iTunes with a USB cable.
Select the iPhone icon at the top of the iTunes window.
Go to the Summary page and click the Restore iPhone button.
Confirm the recovery on the following screens.
The iPhone will restart and the Setup Assistant will launch.
