What is the best way to study English, is a question I frequently get asked as a teacher. My response is as follows: Today I would like to talk about serials. We have a wide range of TV series to choose from, we are spoilt for choice. We can listen in either Russian or English with English subtitles. I would suggest just watching in English the second time after viewing a whole season and being familiar with the story and characters ,writing key words and phrases down. One of the TV series I watched recently is Downton Abbey. I was extremely impressed with how well written it was. There are two varieties of English in Downton Abbey: formal and informal language. The Downton family uses formal language, whereas the kitchen workers and other employees mostly use informal language. Let's study a few phrases and words
