Solcial: Decentralized networks are owned by communities and provide a level playing field for everyone.

Modern social networks are a unique phenomenon of the twenty-first century, which has firmly entered people's lives. The average age of users varies from 7 to 48 years, and the time spent in a virtual, fictional world is simply impossible to count. From the very first moment of its appearance, social networks have completely changed our lives, giving us the great illusion of social relevance. Some really communicate and learn the news, others post perfect, retouched photos, create the appearance of happiness, prosperity and even intelligence, fight for likes to feel important. The reason for the emergence of this phenomenon is the increased need for communication inherent in a wide variety of people, which is why the popularity of some social networks is currently breaking all imaginable and unimaginable records. And this is generally good, a person feels needed. In addition, social networks make the world smaller and closer. A lot of information is available to us completely free of charge: priceless selections of the best restaurants / museums / dog hairdressers / barbershops / beauty salons. We will find out which festival is worth going to on the weekend and what holidays are taking place today in different cities of the world.

Social networks are platforms that are increasingly being used not only by users, but also by businesses. And whichever option we choose to interact online, security and privacy are very important aspects. And more recently, we are increasingly seeing how the struggle for control and opposition to censorship reaches the highest levels of state leadership. Key players on the Internet apply censorship, carrying out the will of the centralized government.

These problems include but are not limited to:

-Centralization of power;

- Monetization of users without their consent;

-Censorship;

-User data is often compromised;

- Intervention in the privacy of users;

-Limited user rights;

- Virtually no financial reward for users;

- Lack of trust in social platforms;

- External threats to social platforms;

-Political bias of the central government;

-High risk of introducing new restrictions for users;

-Interception of management of a centralized company;

-Data security.

And I really want to eliminate the shortcomings of social media platforms with the help of modern technologies, including those that are clearly created by companies that benefit from it. And what can we do:

-Create a platform based on the principles of decentralized ownership and management.

-To create a technology that would guarantee the absence of the possibility of obtaining sole control.

-Create a network that can have the highest possible level of security.

-Create an environment and tools to reward community members for their contributions (if your content is engaging and gets a wide reach, you will be rewarded by the platform).

Among the general list of problems that modern networks carry, I would like to talk about two main ones - the protection of personal data and freedom of speech.

So, the security of user data is the most important part of a social network. Centralized control and authority sometimes pushes platform owners and administrators to operate in a gray area of official rules. User content can be blocked or even removed from the platform without any truthful explanation. On the other hand, such absolute power can be self-destructive: dozens of hacks into centralized social media platforms come at a very high cost to both the owners and the entire community.

And what can we do:

-Create a social networking platform that provides irreversible protection for user data.

-Create a platform that gives each member the right to influence the overall policy of the community.

-Establish safe and secure private interactions between community members without the involvement of third parties.

Freedom of expression is one of the fundamental human rights. It upholds all other human rights, allowing society to develop and progress. The ability to express one's opinion and to speak freely is essential in order to achieve change in society. Freedom of speech is not only the ability to speak, but also the ability to listen to others and allow others to have their say. And with that freedom comes personal responsibility. Responsibility for the spoken words and possible consequences.

And again, modern technologies can help us with this, or we can:

-Create a platform that gives equal rights to all members of the community.

-Create tools to ensure that community consensus is implemented in accordance with common policy.

-To develop a technology that will not allow unilateral changes in the rules in any case.

Fortunately, today there are solutions that eliminate many of the options that we discussed above. There are alternatives to Google, major browsers, and social networks like Facebook, Instagram, VKontakte, Twitter, and more. For this reason, more and more users are choosing decentralized platforms on which they can interact and which are devoid of the disadvantages discussed.

Meet the new decentralized web 3.0 social network - Solcial, which allows you to use the network without fear of censorship, which is completely independent of both the state and the company managing the project.

Content storage is implemented on IPFS, it is accessed via peer-2-peer (p2p). No one except the user himself will be able to manage his content, will not be able to make changes, delete or use confidential information. Why? IPFS is an open source, peer-to-peer distributed hypermedia protocol designed to function as a ubiquitous file system for all computing devices.

IPFS also solves the security problems that plague the HTTP-based Internet: IPFS-based sites with content-addressed data storage and signed content protection are not subject to DDoS attacks. Hence, the accounts are tamper-proof - everything is encrypted, with no backdoors reading your private messages. You can create an anonymous account and use it however you like.

What advantages does the decentralized Solcial network give us, compared to the centralized social networks currently available:

lack of central regulation in applications. Permission is not required, thus opening up new opportunities, including access to such people who were previously discriminated against because of their gender, income, place of residence, etc.

accordingly, less censorship and more freedom in the statements of users;

higher fault tolerance, since applications are hosted in decentralized nodes - they are almost impossible to hack and do not depend on the operation of any one server. It will be more difficult for hackers or others to penetrate the network. In addition, if they are able to do so, each of their transactions can be tracked and canceled on the network.

the ability to own data. Data that is transmitted over the network will be fully encrypted. In addition, users will be able to decide for themselves what information they want to share with third-party users, bloggers, platforms. Users can now sell their data and earn on it.

the network is less prone to service interruption. Because there is no central entity to function in, it becomes difficult for distributed denial of service or other forms of service failure to contribute.

opportunities to monetize their presence on the network, both for application operators and for the users themselves.

What I would like to say in conclusion, despite all the negative aspects of social networks, one cannot but admit that there is no turning back. And no one will be able to refuse them, because if this is a network for communication, then it is very convenient, economical and practical, if for work and creativity, then it seems fast, productive and useful. And the use of Solcial will help us reduce the negative points. Will offer a much better approach than centralized systems. Centralized platforms have dominated for so long that many people have forgotten that other solutions exist. Decentralized networks are owned by communities and provide a level playing field for everyone. We saw the value of decentralized systems in the first age of the internet. I hope we will see her again in the next stage.
