Being coming from Mewat which is regarded as the most backward district of India as per National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) he has to struggle a lot for the cricketing equipments.

Shahbaz Ahmad started playing cricket at the age of three with his father who was a clerk . Professionally he started his cricket in Mewat where he learned all his basics under Mansoor Ali Khan in Gurgaon but due to lack of opportunities in Haryana, he by the suggestion of his friend decided to move out from Haryana to Bengal in the year 2015.

The decision of moving to Bengal worked tremendously well for the twenty seven year old Shahbaz as he got a chance to debut for Bengal in 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Jammu and Kashmir where he put on an amazing show with both bat and ball scoring some 27 runs prior to getting a wicket for 22 runs in his spell.

This was just the beginning for the talented youngster .The 2019-20 Ranji Trophy season came out as a career changing season for Shahbaz as the allrounder where he scored 509 runs in 16 innings of 11 matches also the spinner grabbed 35 wickets in 17 innings at an average of 16.83 and took Bengal to the final and ending the drought of big 15 years.

This dominance with both ball and bat helped him to grab an IPL contract of 20L from the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
