Task 3. You are going to give a talk about your school holidays. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences). Remember to say:
- when you have school holidays;
- what school holidays you would make longer, and why;
- what you enjoy doing during your school holidays;
- what your attitude to school holidays is.
You have to talk continuously.
I'm going to give a talk about my school holidays. To begin with, I have holdays four times a year: in autumn, in winter, in spring and in summer. Reading books / Чтение
Task 3. You are going to give a talk about reading books. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences). Remember to say:
- whether reading is popular with teenagers, and why, or why not;
- what kind of books you like reading;
- why many people prefer e-books to paper books;
- what your attitude to reading is.
You have to talk continuously.
I'm going to give a talk about reading books. To begin with, I'm not sure that reading is popular among teenagers nowadays. It seems to me that modern children prefer surfing the Internet to reading an old-fashioned book. Many teens just don't understand why they have to waste their time reading a book when they can just listen to it or even watch a movie based on it. As for me, I like reading, especially, fantasy books about different imaginary worlds. Speaking about e-books, I'm sure they are so popular because they cost less than paper books. In addition, you can take just a tablet computer with all your e-books with you instead of taking heavy paper books so it is really convenient. Personally, I think that reading is essential for every person. First of all, it broadens your horizons and helps you get a lot of life experience. What is more, reading is very important for your literacy and it helps you to enhance your vocabulary and write correctly. That's all I wanted to say.
Animals / Животные
Task 3. You are going to give a talk about animals. You will have to start in 1.5 minutes and speak for not more than 2 minutes (10–12 sentences). Remember to say:
- what wild animals live in your region;
- whether it is a good idea to keep a wild animal as a pet, and why;
- why people build zoos in cities and towns;
- what your attitude to zoos is.
You have to talk continuously.
I'm going to give a talk about animals. Speaking about wild animals in my region, there is a great variety of different species: bears, wolves, foxes, hares and even moose. Personally, I don't think that keeping a wild animal as a pet is a good idea because a wild animal's behaviour can be really unpredictable and it can hurt its masters even if it has been trained. And there have been such cases. As for zoos, it seems to me that people build them in cities and towns to give everyone an opportunity to see rare animals from different countries with their own eyes. Some zoos are also involved into animal protection programs, like conservation of species. To tell the truth, I don't think that zoos are a good place for animals. I'd prefer animals to live in their natural habitats, not in captivity. That's all I wanted to say.
