Hi Kate, how are you doing? I have found some marvellous illustrations for our project “A job for life” and I’d like to tell you a couple of words about them.
I have chosen these pictures because they perfectly illustrate our project. In the first one there is a pediatrician and a smiling mum holding her kid. The doctor is conducting a medical check-up. The second photo depicts a musician who is working from home. He is surrounded by musical instruments and his laptop which he definitely needs for his work.
Obviously, there are some distinctions between the pictures. The key difference is that being a doctor implies working in a hospital, a сlinique or at least a medical office, while a job of a musician, presented in the 2nd picture, can be done remotely, for example from home. Apart from that, in the first picture we can see that a doctor is a profession which needs communicating with people and being sociable, whereas in the other picture the man is alone as it's not necessary to have many people around to compose a piece of music.
I reckon that both kinds of jobs have their pros and cons. The main advantage of being a doctor, especially a pediatrician, is that you can be of great help, save people's lives. And you get a very rewarding feeling eventually. One of the key disadvantages of the job, shown in the first photo, is a very high level of responsibility. Doctors must not make any mistakes.
Regarding a career of a musician, the major benefit of it is creativity. You can let your imagination run wild and get money for that. However, there is also a drawback, not all performers or composers become successful and achieve their dream-goals as this business (I mean- music industry) is really tough.
Personally, I stick to the opinion that becoming a pediatrician is an ideal job for me. Because I adore kids, I am keen on helping people. To be honest, I've always dreamt of it.
