Naomi Osaka lost to Veronica Kudermetova to Indian Wells in the second. After his defeat against Amanda Anisimova in the Australian Open, he was far from his best. In fact, it has not won the WTF in the last 14 months ago.
In absence of World No One Ash Barty and second-ranked Barbora Krejcikova, Osaka will look to perform well at Miami Open.
“I’ll try to be better next time. I’ll look forward to getting back on the court soon. And please keep your negative comments to yourself,” Naomi Osaka had said after heckling incident at Indian Wells.
Osaka, however, has won 6 out of 8 matches in 2022 as compared to Astra Sharma’s 3 wins in 10 games. The latter will face stiff competition against Osaka in Miami Masters.
“Very proud of myself for reaching a point in my life that despite the lows, I would still rather be myself than anyone else,” Osaka wrote on Twitter.
Osaka will return to her home tournament at the Miami Open for the first time since 2019. The winner of the battle will face 13th seed, Angelique Kerber.
