Именительный падеж, you know it as just who and what. For example, I live in Mexico. Here "I" is answered on the question: who? When we talk about word order in English, we use special constructions like Subject Verb and Object. Subject is answered on Who or What, an active "face". It's Именительный падеж.

Родительный падеж can be answered on the following question such as whose? or who or which belongs? For example: I am a student of the Moscow University. Here of the Moscow University is родительный падеж. Or: I am a son of a God whose parents (who belongs to?)are human and God.

Here I will set some examples: Я- любимый ребенок своих родителей. Я это именительный падеж, своих родителей- родительный падеж. : I am a lovely child of my parents. As we can see, of it's feature of родительного падежа

Дательный падеж: There is an exact example of дательный падеж in English: I will buy some flowers to my mom ( my mom here is дательный падеж, 'who to').But, for example, if we say where?where from? we cannot use it as a case.

Then I would like to present another case: Винительный падеж. You can find it in following sentence: I will buy some flowers to my mom. Some flowers here it's Винительный падеж. It's the same in English, if we talk about just nouns. I will get a taxi in five minutes. Here "taxi" is Винительный падеж. Винительный падеж is answered on the following questions: who? what? But it cannot answered on the main noun. The same as in English. Я куплю цветы маме/ Я возьму такси через пять минут: Маме и такси это винительный падеж.

The Творительный падеж. It's answered on the following questions: кем? чем? who by? what by? The perfect example is: This book is written by Tolstoy. Эта книга написана Толстым. Here "by Tolstoy" is творительный падеж.

The last is Предложный Падеж. You can find some equivalents in English, remembering the preposition 'about'. We use Предложный падеж in these sentences: I will tell you about my mom. Я расскажу тебе о своей маме. О своей маме- about my mom it is Предложный падеж. The questions are: о ком? о чем? Who about? What about?
