I will not go into the plot, otherwise spoilers cannot be avoided. I'd better tell you my impressions of the book and the cycle as a whole. ⠀
I'll make a reservation right away that the first book caused complete delight, the second disappointed me a little, but in general I liked the cycle. ⠀
For those who are not familiar with the mythology of trolls and fairies, I strongly advise against starting with this cycle, since the author does not make any excursions into history. You yourself should know what's what.
"It will not be enough! Not enough!" ⠀
It seems that the second book was cut in volume, or the author was in a great hurry. ⠀
On the one hand, a story that delays, and on the other hand, the deeper you dive, the more questions I never got to answer.
⠀
A definite plus of "Wild Hunt" is that the narrative is conducted from several persons, which allows us to look at the story and feelings of the characters from different angles. ⠀
Grace ceases to be the only main character and this brings some variety. ⠀
Another plus is a lot of new interesting characters. ⠀
Minus - they were never allowed to fully reveal themselves. ⠀
Few trolls! I would like to stay longer in their kingdom. ⠀
And about the lands of the fairies, in general, a couple of phrases. ⠀
I feel left out.
Nevertheless, I am satisfied. ⠀
The story fell into place and time. ⠀
This is a real winter book. She smells of spruce branches and morning frost, blows with an icy wind and magic, it seems just about you can hear a snow crunch under your feet or the roar of an angry troll king. This is the story that I will definitely re-read next winter.
It's a shame that everything ended so quickly. I hope the author will one day write a sequel, because it suggests itself.
