The story of the most ordinary guy named Richard. ⠀
He lives in a tiny apartment, works as an office employee, he has no friends, no hobbies either, except for the forced collecting of figures of trolls with colored hair. ⠀
And, well, he also meets with a cute girl, while he himself does not understand what she found in him. ⠀
Richard has long planned his life: he will marry, have a couple of children, move to live out of town, and possibly get a raise. ⠀
Stable until nausea.
And he would have lived like this on his measured life if one evening he walked past the wounded girl. However, Richard did not pass by. ⠀
This girl turned out to be not a man at all, but a magical inhabitant of underground London. ⠀
So Richard gets caught up in trouble and discovers a dangerous parallel world - Lower London.
⠀
This world is a slum and stinking sewers with rivers of blood. ⠀
It is inhabited by all kinds of humanoid creatures: children of the night, black monks, rat people, hunters, hired killers and many other bizarre creatures. ⠀
They live according to the principles: "he who had time, he ate," "you - me, I - you" and other barter relations.
Despite the fact that this is a nightmarish, disgusting and smelly world, it has its own charm and magic. ⠀
Not everyone in this world is mean and evil. There are also good "people".
This is a fascinating fairy tale for adults. Sometimes sad, sometimes scary, but nevertheless very instructive. ⠀
Her moral is this: be who you want to be. Do what you want to do. Live the way you want it. There is only one life. Do not waste it in vain pleasing anyone.
I liked Lower London with all its inhabitants, including the negative ones. Perhaps I will return to it someday.
