| MAKE or DO | Что и когда выбрать?

Порой все, кто изучает английский язык, задаются вопросом: что здесь лучше использовать: make или do? Давайте разберёмся в каких ситуациях что нужно использовать.

1. Make = create

В ситуации, когда вы хотите что-либо создать, используйте глагол make.

  • coffee/tea | I'm going to make some tea.
  • an offer | You should make an offer to Roy.
  • a suggestion | May I make a suggestion?
  • a promise | When I make a promise, I keep it.
  • a discovery | It makes me happy when I make a discovery.
  • sound/noise | Stop making this noise!
  • a choice | I said that I've already made my choice.
  • a creation process | You should make sculptures of other people.

BUT do drawing | I want to do some drawing, but I have no time.

  • money (profit, investment, fortune) | She is able to easily make profit from price fluctuations to some goods.

BUT do business | Do your own business.

2. Do = task (something that already exist)

Если вы хотите сказать, что кто-либо просто выполняет задачу и не собирается что-либо создавать, то используйте глагол do.

  • a homework | After dinner you have to do your homework.
  • a test | I will do a test next week.
  • an experiment | Let's do an experiment and see what will happen!
  • an interview | Don't disturb her, she is doing an interview.
  • a course | I do a cooking course.
  • well/badly | I'm sure that i've done everything well.
  • bad/good | I did a bad thing to him.
  • your best/worst | We should do our best to win the competition.
  • housework (shopping, the dishes) | She does the dishes every evening.

BUT make a bed | You should make your bed in the morning.

  • hair and make-up | I do my make-up every morning before the work.
