Kaziranga National Park, India.

• Kaziranga National Park is located in the state of Assam in the eastern part of India. Since 1985, the park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Baroness Mary Curzon, the wife of the Viceroy of India, made a great contribution to the foundation of the park. On her initiative, in 1905, measures were taken in this territory to protect the Indian one-horned rhinoceros - the population of the species was on the verge of extinction due to hunting, poaching, and legends about the life-giving power of rhino horn powder also contributed to this.

• In the process of development, the area of Kaziranga has doubled, besides, the park has managed to change several statuses: almost 70 years have passed from "Protected Forest" to "National Park".The modern park is represented by tropical forests and lush flood meadows, but in the beginning the reserve was subjected to massive logging and therefore was mostly lifeless swamps.Basically, the plant world is represented by herbs. Elephant grass and some types of reeds are often found; among the trees and shrubs, it is impossible not to mention the tree kareya (kumbhi), the Malacca tree (emblik) and the cotton tree - it forms the forests of the savanna.

• The fauna of Kaziranga is very diverse: in one territory there are many rare animals, most of which are endangered.

• The case started by Mary Curzon continues, and continues successfully, because the population of one-horned rhinos in Kaziranga is now the largest in the world and amounts to 1,900 individuals, that is, 3/4 of the representatives of this species existing on Earth.All the animals living in the reserve are unique.

Many of them are endangered:

• wild Asian buffalo
• Indian elephant
• sambara

• There are also tourists in the park, but it is forbidden to enter the park itself.If you want to take a walk, then only with experts and guides.
