It seems that the era of Peter I and refrigerators are incompatible things. The king himself did not even suspect the existence of such a device, until in 1716 he went on a visit to the palace of the Danish king Frederick IV. The refrigerator, which he was surprised to find at a party, of course, did not look like a modern one. It was something like a thermos - a glass vessel with a silver flask inside, into which either crushed ice was poured or hot water was poured. And food or drinks were placed in the flask, which needed to be cooled or heated. Peter liked the device so much that the king gave him his copy.
The refrigerator arrived for restoration in a deplorable state. At the slightest touch, glass particles remained on the hands, the surface was in small cracks. Therefore, immediately after cleaning from pollution, experts began to strengthen the glass. The work lasted two years. Now the refrigerator has acquired its original appearance. And not just the view. The restorers claim that Peter the Great's refrigerator is in working order.
