Reflexive Pronouns - used to refer back to the subject of the sentence
myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves
Examples:
I can do it myself.
You should be proud of yourself.
He hurt himself playing basketball.
She loves to talk to herself in the mirror.
It took care of itself.
We enjoyed ourselves at the party.
They can't stop talking about themselves.
Possessive Pronouns - used to show ownership or possession
mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs
Examples:
This is mine, not yours.
Is this book yours?
His car is parked outside.
This is hers, not mine.
The dog wagged its tail.
This is our house.
The flowers are theirs.
Demonstrative Pronouns - used to point out or identify something
this, that, these, those
Examples:
This is my favorite shirt.
That is an amazing sunset.
These are the books I need for class.
Those are some beautiful flowers.
Indefinite Pronouns - used to refer to nonspecific people or things
anybody, anyone, anything, everybody, everyone, everything, nobody, no one, nothing, somebody, someone, something
Examples:
Anyone can learn how to play the guitar.
Everything looks better in the sunshine.
No one knows what will happen in the future.
Somebody left their wallet on the table.
Relative Pronouns - used to link one idea to another in a sentence
who, whom, whose, which, that
Examples:
The person who won the race gets a trophy.
Whom are you going to the party with?
This is the book whose cover I really like.
The cookies that she made were delicious.
Interrogative Pronouns - used to ask a question
who, whom, whose, which, what
Examples:
Who is your favorite singer?
Whom do you want to invite to the party?
Whose idea was this?
Which way should we go?
What is your favorite movie?
Reciprocal Pronouns - used to show mutual action or relationship
each other, one another
Examples:
The two best friends hugged each other.
The members of the team respect one another.
