Spiritual Connection. Chapter 2: Search for the Victory

And so, I found myself alone in a dark old room with two rather loud folks: Captain Alexander Smollett and his now-ghost friend, Billy Bones. The presence of the latter was the one that intimidated me.

“How convenient, huh...” - Captain sighed, fumbling in his pockets to find a torch. - “Anybody know what happens now?”

“Well...” - I raised my hand. - “we're supposed to go out of here... and find that theatre again. “

“Why's that?”

“Dunno. But we should beware of one thing. “

“And what's that, the flood?” - Billy pointed to the exit, the way to which was filling up with ink kinda quickly.

“Nah.” - I couldn't think of anything at the moment, so the ghost continued:

“We need to find Mr Sammy Lawrence, the game's music manager...”- he paused mysteriously, - “or so we've been told.”

“Let's go, then, - Smollett turned the torch on, but soon felt my hand on his arm:

“Wait! Do ya know the Searchers?”

¿Quiénes en el diablo son?” - he was rather annoyed by the interruption.

“They... well, they're ink creatures...”

Y? Vamonos, we gotta go now...”

“They're ink creatures with almost no soul. No eyes, no mouth, just inhuman drive. And they're, uh... out for human blood. “

Captain stared at me for a moment.

“Is there literally anythin' I do know about this game?”

Technically... yeah, there was a lot. But before I could say anything, we heard Billy scream: "Guys! Holy cow, they're here!"

“They're wha-?” - as we turned to the exit, we saw a bunch of Searchers crawling our way. To an observer, it would look like an ink wave with several human-like remnants moving at us, and was it huge!

“OMG, what now?!” - I backed into a corner immediately.

“We all know what!“- Captain raised his hand, - “Charge!”

“Huzzah!” - and Billy flew straight into the wave. Was he... gonna die there? Wait, no, ghosts are immortal, right? Either way, Smollett and I were left to deflect the attack all by ourselves.

“Come on, parry!” - he tossed the wrench to me as I prepared to hit the searchers that were left to us, while he unsheathed both his mighty swords, - “Nena, vamos a ganarlo!”

And that’s where the action really started. I saw my military friend leap into one of the Searchers with a fling of his strong hand. The sword managed to slice not one or two, but five of them in half. “Legál!” I heard him shout, and that’s what caused my confidence boost. I took a good hold of my wrench and started slamming the monsters with extra precision. But, strangely enough, they weren’t disappearing…

Chiquita, this is, like, really hard”, - Captain huffed, getting closer to me, - “ya goin' well?”

“Pretty nice, actua-whoa!” - I almost slipped, but he fetched me by the side:

“Gotta be careful with things like that, don't wanna end up like me during the fort assault.”

The fort assault... the one at the Treasure Island that my new friend's crew had to protect from the rebels. Everyone was working really hard, except for the captain, because something caused him to get stuck in a window pane, which kinda stunned him... and, as a result, got him immobilized for a while. Even his huge swords didn't help it. Wouldn't wish that for myself, really.

“H-hey...” - I inched a bit closer, as I sliced another Searcher in half, - “ya know, they don't come in waves like that all the time.”

“Well, that's a relief,” - Captain hit another one together with me, - “any other dangers ya'd like to tell me about?”

I was almost about to start when a Searcher grabbed me at the back. As my stronger friend carefully struck him off, something happened. I suddenly felt so mad, that I slammed the wrench into the nearest Searcher and took off into a dash, killing every monster in sight. Smollett could only stand and watch, mouth gaping. “Cielos…” - I heard him sigh, before he, too, slammed into the opposite Searcher wave. It seemed like we were almost done working together in a complete sync – such euphoria, man!

“Oh my God, Captain, we're doin' it!” - I cheered for my friend and my greatly developing fencing skills, but quickly got my focus on the left sword, - “That's a beauty ya got there!”

Gracias! They're my best battle-pals”, - he answered, before stopping... kinda. I didn't know, why, but I also did.

“S' up?”

Donde está Billy?

No sé... pero es un... ghost, right?”

Síp...” - Captain stared into the distance, lots of Searchers lingering there, - “I wonder how he is out there.”

“Hope he's fine or a”- I suddenly screamed, - “Look out! Cuidado!”

We leapt each to a different corner of our "battle venue" as a gigantic azure shockwave flew in from the corridor! That was rather intense - I wondered long after, how we didn't get hit. But what surprised me the most was Billy getting out of that wave as soon as it stopped.

Vaya… Ojalá yo pudiera hacer lo mismo, ”– Captain Smollett mused, - “Do they do this in-game?”

“Nope, sorry, just me.” - Billy brushed off the remaining dust from the impact with the wall, while we were watching in awe. How did he even complete such a feat? Now that caused me to be impressed with the man even more, but...
