Major Richard Ira “Dick” Bong – the most productive American fighter pilot WWII. During the war in the Pacific he won 40 victories. Richard Bong flew on the fighters P-40 and P-38. He was awarded the Medal of Honor of the US Congress, Cross for outstanding services, Silver Star. Richard Bong died on August 6, 1945, when he tested the new F-80 jet aircraft “Shooting Star”.
