Roberto Cavalli was born on November 15, 1940 in Florence, Italy. He spent his early childhood in the mining village of Vilino in Castelnuovo di Sabbioni, 50 km from Florence, where his father Giorgio Cavalli worked as a surveyor.
Fashion and Design:
When Roberto was still studying at the academy, he already realized that fashion and design are not just a hobby that brings pleasure, but also the meaning of life. In 1960, Roberto founded his own company specializing in T-shirts, jeans and other wardrobe items.
Works:
In the collections of the Cavalli Fashion House, bird feathers and animal skins are often used. Cavalli himself has repeatedly mentioned that he draws inspiration for his collections exclusively from nature. Roberto Cavalli creates a unique combination of leather with fabrics and inserts made of coarse cotton, which he will use more than once in his collections. He introduces two new techniques: patchwork and laser drawing techniques.
Cavalli loves leather, before him, leather was used only when sewing sports jackets, he also makes it popular, everyday, and most importantly soft, thin, elastic.
