AMD: Miners have a "minor" impact on video card sales; supply will begin to improve by 2022.

In the second fiscal quarter, AMD's revenue increased by 99% compared to 2020, and its net profit jumped by 352%. The report did not mention the impact of cryptocurrencies, but CFO Devinder Kumar raised the topic at the Deutsche Bank technology conference.

When asked about the reasons for this growth and, in particular, about the relationship of record indicators with the cryptocurrency boom, Kumar replied that sales of AMD devices to miners were "negligible."

"This is not one of our top priorities. We do not share items and do not design them expressly for miners; rather, we design them for gamers. The Radeon 6000 series graphics cards have proven to be extremely competitive and have been the driving force behind our progress in the GPU arena."

Kumar also spoke about the supply crisis. According to him, the shortage of components, particularly in the market of central processors, has been reduced - the Ryzen 9 5950X and Ryzen 9 5900X were difficult to locate for sale when they were released, but they are now accessible at costs near to the suggested ones.

In terms of graphics cards, the business plans to continue focusing on high-performance products, optimize logistics, and collaborate with consumers.Kumar also commented on the supply situation. In his opinion, the shortage of components, especially in the market of central processors, was reduced - Ryzen 9 5950X and Ryzen 9 5900X were difficult to find on sale at release, but now they are available at prices close to the recommended ones.

In terms of graphics cards, the company will continue to focus on high-performance devices, optimize logistics and partner with customers.

NVIDIA previously presented a record-breaking quarterly report, and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang stated that the graphics card shortage will last until 2022.
