Thanks to such a wide development of the Internet, people have the opportunity to download various music from the Internet for free. From here, there were disputes, some argue that illegal downloading is harmful in economic terms for performers, while others are sure that such actions do not have any negative consequences. In this essay, I would like to discuss both options and express my own opinion on this issue.
Undoubtedly, in the 21st century, people do not need to spend extra money to listen to their favorite music. There is no need to spend money on their records or buy tickets to concerts of artists, they just need to go to the Internet search engine, write the name of the song, artist or albums and just download. And of course, in 99% of cases, such downloading is illegal, which does not bring any material profit for the performer. And many people consider this the norm, moreover, they react very negatively to the question: "Why don't you pay for this song?" They are sure that for artists who are able to earn a large fortune through various musical tours, it will not be too critical if they do not get a couple of cents for a song. And that's why they continue to download music from illegal sites.
Others argue that the use of illegally presented music can harm not only economically, but also morally for performers. Because by doing this, we are simply stealing something that a person or even several people have spent a lot of time, effort, and emotions on. In this way, we simply devalue someone's work, as if showing that it is not worthy of being paid. I can agree that music concerts can bring a lot of profit, but this also does not always happen, but people also forget that good music is possible only if there is good musical equipment, which is very expensive.
Now there are a lot of different music platforms, where for listening to the songs of artists, those are at least small, but still money. For example, applications such as apple music and spotify pay 52 cents(the first) and 0.25-0.5 cents(the second) for 1 song listened to. Yes, I agree that this is not the biggest money, especially in the case of spotify, however, if at least 30-50% of the entire audience of performers uses these applications every day, it will bring good money. Personally, I use the spotify application, since it is more convenient for me to use and I always have access to any high-quality (as opposed to illegally downloaded) music at any time of the day or night, I only need the Internet. And yes, some people may have a suggestion that this application consumes too much Internet, I hasten to assure you that this is not the case, it requires many times less than Instagram and other social networks. And it's not a pity for me to spend a couple of megabytes a day to enjoy good music, to bring a "penny" to the feed of my favorite artists, because it seems to me that any work should be paid and it should be respected.
In conclusion, I would like to say that how to listen or download music remains absolutely your choice, but why don't you "fork out" a little and pay for the work of people who are trying for you.
