So, let's look at the device. A white box, the ability to attach to a 2-sided tape or with a fixing. There is a single button on the front for all actions. The sensor on the balcony works without problems when the temperature is lower than -10.
Now let's disassemble the sensor. In the first photo, you can see that there is no element. There should be a piezoelectric element there, but I removed it. Other photos were taken before the modernization. The black board is a communication module, the green one is a smoke sensor. The element base is located on one side, the controller is under the smoke chamber.
Let's go to the connection. Quickly press the button 3 times, the color of the diode should not have time to change from red to yellow (I only managed this way). The device will be displayed in ZigBee2MQTT, after a while - in the Home Assistant. Only 1 object is displayed - the smoke detector. We are still waiting, there are more objects, but there is no data on them. We are waiting for more ☺. Here, after some more period, data on objects will be displayed. The battery status, signal level, smoke level and tamper are available to us. How the tamper works is not clear. Probably, this is some kind of software algorithm for determining that the sensor is somehow hacked.
Why did I solder a piezoelectric element on some sensors? Smoke detectors can be triggered by dust. The effect is cumulative. False smoke detection always happens at the wrong time. To turn off the sensor, push the button on the body. Usually, the sensors are located under the overhead. And here are 3 nights and you have a beep. On the one hand, it's good that we are protected, on the other hand, you think about the need for such an alarm. Therefore, I remove the beeper on the sensors that are located in hard-to-reach places.
