German Lützow heavy cruiser damaged from hitting the torpedo

German heavy cruiser “Lützow” (formerly “Deutschland”) in the ship dock of Kiel. The ship was seriously damaged as a result of falling into its stern of torpedo from the British submarine Spearfish on the night of 10 to 11 April 1940. The hull broke behind the aft turret, 4 compartments were flooded; The ship took about 1300 tons of water. In the evening of April 13, 1940, the “Lützow” was towed to Kiel, where it stayed for more than six months.
